Freeway Customers

Freeway Commerce has more than 2,000 customers in the UK and Eire.

These customers are both small businesses and very large corporations - all with a common aim of making trading more efficent and reducing costs. EDI - or Electronic Data Interchange is a commonly used term to describe the exchange of electronic documents but although Freeway is the UK market leader in the supply of EDI software solutions the latest technology developments go further than the srict definition of EDI. Freeway customers are equipped for today's EDI requirements but also for the next generation of ecommerce solutions which use Internet technologies rather than private networks.

Freeway customers fall into three broad categories: -

1. Spokes

Spokes (or suppliers) - Usually - but not always - smaller businesses asked by their suppliers to adopt electronic trading as part of a drive for reduced costs of trading. Initially many of these smaller businesses consider the adoption of EDI to be a necessary inconvenience as it involves additional investment in technology.

When they choose and then use Freeway's  Spectrum Professional software these same customers become amazed at just how much time, effort and money they save by having an integrated solution . The ease with which these customers can trade with multiple suppliers using different message formats with one software product means that they have suddenly become attractive suppliers to many of the big buyers in their market place. See the top 5 reasons for adopting EDI for further understanding of why Freeway's small business customers benefit from their purchase.

Many spokes are also hubs themselves - with their own network of suppliers. These customers find that Freeway can help them build an entire ecommerce community...

Freeway has in excess of 1,800 small business customers from all industry sectors.

2. Hubs

Hubs  (or customers) - Usually large businesses with many suppliers. These businesses typically seek to reduce costs by automating routine transactions such as the issuing of purchase orders and receipt of invoices. These customers very often have to manage very large roll-outs among their suppliers. It is common for large customers to insist that all suppliers are able to trade with them electronically by a given date and this brings an added pressure that Freeway exels at relieving. The grocery and other retail sectors are particularly big users of EDI but almost every sector is adopting ecommerce solutions in order to reduce costs.

Freeway has relationships with almost all the major EDI hubs. A list of just some of the partners suppliers can trade with "out-of-the-box" can be found by clicking here and a sector breakdown of some of the larger players is available by following the links below: -

3. Payroll

From April 2005 it became a requirement for all large companies* (under IR Guidelines) to file returns electronically. Find out why Freeway customers will find this easy by clicking here
