NMBS (National Merchants Buying Society) is a service provider for the building supplies industry that offers buying functions for independent builders merchants and reduced payment cycles for suppliers.
Up to now, NMBS has used the EDI Value Added Networks (VANs) as the means by which suppliers can send copies of their invoices and credit notes in electronically. Now, thanks to the flexibility of the Spectrum Enterprise application they use, NMBS is able to offer suppliers the alternative of FTP connectivity that does not have the volume-related traffic costs of the VANs. In addition, their members will also now be encouraged to get involved by using FTP as a means of receiving copies of documents as well at a far lower cost than was previously possible.
