AC Electrical Wholesale plc, one of the UK's largest independently owned electrical wholesalers, is to start trading electronically with its 4500-strong supplier base, thanks to Freeway Commerce.
The company, which is based in Ferndown, Dorset, has 40 branches nationwide and currently runs a manual administration process.
If it is to continue with its rapid growth and expansion plans, the company knows it needs to install a fully integrated modern ecommerce solution, explained AC Electrical Project Manager. Mark Southall.
AC Electrical will be installing Freeway's Spectrum Enterprise hub solution. The plan is to use both traditional EDI using EDIFACT D96a standards using FTP as its primary connectivity, resorting to VAN's only when suppliers encounter internal issues with FTP connections.
Added Mark: "In collaboration with Freeway, we have also designed a customised version of Freeway's Internet based Web Forms solution. This will allow smaller suppliers to trade over the Internet without having to buy any additional software. Both solutions will be fully integrated into our existing Zisk computer system."
The Spectrum Enterprise solution will be developed to electronically distribute Purchase Orders, Debit Notes, Suppliers Sales Invoices and Sales Credit Notes.
Initially AC Electrical will deploy both EDI and Web Forms on their Purchase Orders, with a scheduled roll out to suppliers commencing March 6, 2006.
Phase 2 will see the addition of Purchase Invoice receipt from their suppliers into the Electronic Purchase Invoice Matching software in Zisk. Phase 3 will see the deployment of the bespoke Web Forms software which will become AC Electrical's Debit Note resolution software.
Concluded Mark: "Freeway's Spectrum software will bring many benefits to our business. In particular, we expect to make substantial savings in administration costs by reducing the time spent on re-keying data, streamlining our order process and increasing accuracy. This in turn will enable us to improve our supply chain capability."
