Saniflo UK is one of the leading manufacturers of pumping systems for WC's, showers and bathrooms. Back in the mid-1990s,the company set up an EDI trading facility after a request from one of their larger customers, the builder's merchant Wickes.
Five years later it was another customer request, this time from Travis Perkins, that led Saniflo to reevaluate their whole EDI system and eventually appoint Freeway to establish a new integrated package that could link in with their accounting software, something their original standalone EDI system could not offer.
Explained Jonathan Davies,Saniflo's Accountant: "When Travis Perkins approached us and discussed establishing an EDI link,they suggested we talk to their preferred EDI provider, Freeway Commerce about their solution.
"This was an opportunity for us to look at our whole EDI strategy and to re-evaluate the current system. We wanted to really maximise the benefits of EDI. Freeway offered us an integrated solution which included everything we would need to begin trading on EDI with Travis Perkins. It also provided a route to replace our existing EDI system with a new one that included integration with Horizons, an Access accounts package. Freeway supplied EDI communications software, an EDI mailbox and the all-important integration with Horizons, in one single package."
"It was agreed that using the Transaction Broker, Freeway would initially integrate incoming EDI orders and outgoing EDI invoices.Then this would be extended to include Acknowledgements, Delivery Advice Notes and Credits." But following the review, Saniflo decided to change their accounting software to Access Accounts' Dimensions package with help from Total Quality Software, based in Amersham, and Armstrong Consultants, in Harpenden.
Said Jonathan: "This change of plan did not seem to present any problems to Freeway. Within a few weeks of placing the order,Freeway's engineer was on-site to install the software at Saniflo and to set up all aspects of the EDI solution, including the seamless integration of Sales Orders and Invoices with Dimensions and the EDI trading relationship with Travis Perkins and Wickes."Saniflo were quickly up and running with the software and have since added Jewson onto the system.
Concluded Jonathan: "We have now been using Freeway for a couple of years. Their support has been very good, and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to any other company considering EDI."
