J Sainsbury
Sainsbury's have been one of the longest-standing exponents of EDI, and have been using it for many years with their suppliers.
Many of Freeway's customers already trade with Sainsbury, and are likely to be receiving orders and sending back invoices. In recent years, Sainsbury has looked to increase supply-chain efficiency by introducing their Firewing project, which seeks to obtain advanced delivery information from suppliers and to return confirmation of receipt back to them. Sainsbury have offered suppliers a web-based solution for this (Infolink), but it is also possible to use a more user-friendly EDI route using Spectrum.
The Spectrum application works for both Standalone and Integrated users, offering the ability to create Advanced Shipping Notes (ASN's) and Pallet Labels via a 'turnaround' application that utilises the original order information. It will also allow users to receive and print the Delivery Confirmation sent in return by Sainsburys. Integrated users also have the option of submitting a flat file including delivery information that Spectrum Professional will convert into the appropriate EDI format.
