Mitchells & Butlers is one of the UK's leading operators of managed pubs, bars and restaurants offering eating, drinking and entertainment for its customers in over 2,000 outlets.

Mitchells & Butlers have been traditionally using EDI with a small number of suppliers, using Tradacoms EDI messages such as Orders, Invoices, Credits and Debits over the Tradanet EDI service provided by.

They are keen to expand the use of eCommerce with their suppliers and have joined OFSCI, (Optimum Foodservice Supply Chain Initiative) which comprises operators and service providers looking to expand the use of eCommerce in this sector. As a leading player in OFSCI, Mitchells & Butlers have been involved in the development of ebXML schemas for the required trading messages, and have been investigating an EAI implementation of AS2 linked to their own internal systems.

They plan to implement a roll-out of XML messages using the AS2 delivery protocol with their leading suppliers with the possibility of expanding on this to include other smaller suppliers via this method or a lower-cost solution based around the use of web forms.

Mitchells & Butlers has decided to engage with Freeway, as a partner in securing a successful roll-out of this exciting new technology with their key partners.
