Mitchells & Butlers
Mitchells & Butlers is one of the UK's leading operators of managed pubs, bars and restaurants offering eating, drinking and entertainment for its customers in more than 2,000 outlets.
Mitchells & Butlers has been traditionally using EDI with a small number of suppliers, using Tradacoms EDI messages such as orders, invoices, credits and debits over the Tradanet EDI service.
It is keen to expand the use of e-commerce with its suppliers and has joined OFSCI, (Optimum Foodservice Supply Chain Initiative) which comprises operators and service providers looking to expand the use of e-commerce in this sector. As a leading player in OFSCI, Mitchells & Butlers has been involved in the development of ebXML schemes for the required trading messages and has been investigating an EAI implementation of AS2 linked to its own internal systems.
It plans to implement a roll-out of XML messages using the AS2 delivery protocol with its leading suppliers with the possibility of expanding on this to include other smaller suppliers via this method or a lower-cost solution based around the use of Web forms.
Mitchells & Butlers has decided to engage with Freeway as a partner in securing a successful roll-out of this exciting new technology with its key partners. Freeway offers a complete range of e-commerce solutions covering the needs of the small and large suppliers to Mitchells & Butlers, including all of the likely XML or EDI requirements it may encounter across a range of customers or suppliers. Freeway also offers proven roll-out management services which are assisting Mitchells & Butlers in the on-going management of the supplier project.
