NMBS chooses Freeway solution

NMBS is a centralised buying society representing independent builders, plumbers and hardware merchants. Its 600-strong membership operates approximately 1,400 branches nationwide.

National Merchant Buying Society (NMBS) has updated its e-commerce system by installing Freeway's Spectrum software. NMBS will use Spectrum to receive electronic invoices and credit notes from its suppliers and to send electronic invoices and credits to its members.

The new EDI package offers a more robust and futureproof solution than the previous software used by NMBS. Spectrum runs on the faster PC-based Windows platform and it can communicate in a wider variety of ways.

Paul Kaye, Freeway's Sales Director, explained: "With the new Spectrum software, NMBS will benefit from having greater flexibility and fewer operating costs when dealing with their suppliers and members. Our software supports multiple message formats so it can take an invoice or credit note from an NMBS supplier and deliver it directly into the society's internal accounting system. Spectrum links EDI with more than 60 leading accounting software solutions, making the benefits of integration available to all."

Freeway is also offering a Spectrum solution for NMBS members, allowing them to receive electronic invoices from NMBS. In addition, Freeway will be working with the society to roll out EDI to hundreds of its suppliers in an on-going project during the year.
