Safeway/Morrisons

Safeway has traditionally been one of the leading grocery retailers in the UK, with annual sales in 2003 of around £9 billion, 90,000 employees and nearly 480 stores nationwide.

Despite Morrisons now having taken over the Safeway business, there has been a continuing requirement for EDI, and in common with the other leading grocery retailers, Safeway has been continuing to use EDI ordering and invoicing with suppliers.

As Morrisons is re-branding the Safeway's stores, the stores are being re-categorised for EDI purposes as Morrisons stores, with EDI orders and invoices needing to be moved to Morrisons' mailbox rather than the original Safeway ones.

Both Safeway and Morrisons are happy to recommend Freeway's Spectrum Solution as the preferred choice for their suppliers, and continue to work closely with Freeway to further develop their EDI community.

All suppliers are offered free pre- and post-sales advice, and are directed to the solution which best suits their business volumes, their trading partner requirements and their future EDI and e-commerce needs.
