Somerfield is asking key suppliers to adopt EDI invoicing and has recommended its suppliers consider using Freeway Commerce's Spectrum product on the grounds that it is low cost, self-installable, easy to use and can be upgraded to integrate with more than 60 accounting packages.

Spectrum offers suppliers the choice of keying-in invoices or importing them directly from their back-office accounting systems, eradicating duplication of effort and potential keying errors.

Freeway's choice of IBM as the Value Added Network provider drives significant cost out of the supply chain, witnessed by one supplier who reported a £2,000/year saving, on top of the enhanced functionality Freeway Spectrum product provides.
